Plan For Tomorrow
8:30 AM: Observation
10:00 AM: Gym
11:00 AM: Drop car off at covered work garage downtown
12:00 PM: Head home and hibernate
Bring it on storm- we just got cable hooked up last week and I stopped and bought Mockingjay, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest, and my latest book club read- The Glass Castle- today. We have frozen pizza, cookie dough, lots of wine and 7-11 (with Redbox!!) half a...

Drama
I pride myself on being a pretty drama free person. I have really solid relationships with the important people in my life, work to communicate openly when something compromises those relationships, and try to make decisions that are both good for me and the people around me. I’m friends with my ex boyfriends and really have no ‘enemies’ or people I actively dislike or...
Girl friends are the best... what would we do...
Things that make me happy right now.
(It’s been a rough day so I want to end it on a positive note!)
My monster curled up next to me on my bed
A rocking yoga class (with an instructor I really like)
Dinner with one of my favorite ladies tomorrow
Manis and Pedis this weekend with my sisters
Picking up my dry cleaning tomorrow
The BBQ Quorn sandwich I made for dinner
Daydreaming about the possibility of adding bangs back...

turningback:
I recently had a conversation with a friend who was dealing with a break up and she told me that it felt as though she had “lost her future”.
I thought about this a lot after we spoke because it never occurred to me that you could “lose” your future. But in a way I can understand what she means. A lot of us (myself included) are guilty for assuming things will pan out a particular...
Life Update (1.25)
All in all this power month of January has been a success. I took on A LOT this month- starting marathon training, attempting to curb my random eating habits, hitting major goals at work to score a promotion, dating a new guy, seeing more of my friends, and not spending so much time at home doing work. Here are my major wins:
- Marathon training is going (decently) well. I’m rocking my...
Run Chicago →
I’m starting a side blog to keep track of my marathon training progress- Chicago runners, if you want to use this site to track your own progress as well just send me your email address and I’ll add you as a member!
It's mind boggling how quickly you can mentally...
Patience.
In my professional world I am the most patient person ever- when I was a teacher my patience with my students went forever and now as I work with beginning teachers I use my patience on a daily basis.
That being said, in my personal life- I am the least patient person ever. I really hate waiting to see how things will turn out- I just want to get it figured out now. Sometimes this is good (I...
Houston (for work), DC (for work/play), and Florida (all play!) are on the docket for weekend trips over the next two months… I love my city but have to say I’m pretty excited for some get-aways!
Tonight
One more meeting (with two of my favorite teachers)
Short run at the gym
Vegetarian Chili!
Hanging out with one of my new favorite people :)
Why I've Been M.I.A.
Life has been busy! Really, really good- but busy. I’ve been working my butt of at work- it’s an important time of year for us (plus I’m gunning for a promotion in the next few months). Plus, I met a pretty awesome guy I’ve been spending quite a bit of time with. Throw in the start of marathon training and boom- keeping up my blog just fell to the way side.

Sorry, Tumblr!
Life just got really busy all of the sudden.
I’ll be back soon- I promise!
Time to try red hair?
I’ve been getting pretty bored with my hair but am not quite ready to chop it all off (I just love my messy buns too much!). Instead, I’m thinking about going red… recent photos of Khloe Kardashian and Melissa Jordan, one of my favorite bloggers, might have just pushed me over the edge.
Thoughts?

Heaven is...
… listening to Billy Joel on my record player (which is now hooked up to speaker not just my TV!) drinking a glass of wine. Piano Man is one of the best albums ever… Billy the Kid, Captain Jack, You’re My Home and, of course, Piano Man… seriously fantastic!

Movie Weekend
There were a few weekends when I was living in Charlotte that my friend Christine and I went to see multiple movies. A few weeks before the Oscars we’d get panicked about missing something important- I think one day we actually went to see two!
I think this weekend is going to be a movie weekend. Here is my tentative plan:
Friday: The King’s Speech (7:30 @ Century Centre)

The Happy Marriage Is the ‘Me’ Marriage [NYT] →
emphasisadded:
By Tara Parker Pope
“A lasting marriage does not always signal a happy marriage.
Plenty of miserable couples have stayed together for children, religion or other practical reasons. But for many couples, it’s just not enough to stay together. They want a relationship that is meaningful and satisfying. In short, they want a sustainable marriage.
“The things that make a marriage...
With only 7 channels my roommate and I have to get a little creative (and rent a lot of DVDs) to get ourselves through the winter without spending a ton of money to entertain ourselves outside of our apartment. Here is my winter TV line up:
Monday:
The Bachelor, 7 PM (started 1/3)
Tuesday:
Glee, 7 PM (starts 2/8 after Superbowl episode)
Parenthood, 9 PM (starts 1/4)

1. Listen more than you talk.
2. If you notice yourself getting bored with what you’re saying, stop talking. Acknowledge the situation. Smile. Move on.
3. Know a few historical anecdotes. Like this one: To enhance creativity, surrealist painter Salvador Dalí recommended afternoon naps lasting less than a second. He would lie in his chair, arms outstretched, holding a metal key in his left hand....

Boot Camp at Home
Now that I’m starting my pre-marathon training training program (that’s right, I set up a training program that leads up to my 18 week training program!) I’m looking for fun cross training and strength exercises I can do either at home or the gym. Here are two great boot camp workouts I found online:
Super Simple
A little more complex
Enjoy!

Last Day of Vacation
Slept in
Returned bum record player to Target
Deposited some $$$ at the bank
Ordered speakers for old record player
Ordered a sweater that looks like this
Made a healthy lunch (BBQ quorn chikn and long grain rice)
Baked some monkey bread
Watched Modern Family on DVD
Pretended I don’t really have to go back to work tomorrow… :)
2000 Posts!
Happy 2000th post to me… that seems like a lot, but over the 2ish years I’ve been on Tumblr I suppose it’s really not that many.
I’m browsing my archive via my ‘Random’ button to celebrate… a lot has changed since I started this blog but I feel like life just keeps getting better and better. :)

January's Resolution
January’s resolution is to track my calories on MyNetDiary ever day- and strictly stick to my calorie per day allotment during the week. I’m still going to track my weekend calories but will give myself a little buffer when it comes to getting the right number of calories and fat/carb/protein ratios.
Rationale: I’m not totally thrilled with my overall health right now and want...
