After making so much noise during the election about education and vouchers - will Obama send his daughters to public school? It seems not…

As a public school teacher and a member of Teach For America, let me tell you that vouchers is the WORST thing that could happen to our schools. We need to fix public schools, not just find a way to get some kids out of them. Fixing these schools is going to take time, and most Americans aren’t willing to wait for results. Obama knows vouchers are just a band-aid and that a real solution will take much more time. While he is working on fixing public schools, do you blame him for paying for a better and safer educational environment for his girls? I don’t. He never said our public schools are fine how they are- no informed American would make that claim right now. Not agreeing with vouchers is not the same thing as saying- yes, public schools are great. He is just saying vouchers are not his solution. Give the man a break- he wants what is best for his family just like he wants what is best for the country.
This article is twisting a bunch of issues just to take a jab at Obama. The important part of this article is the issue that our public schools are a mess. That is what we should all be up in arms about, not where Sasha and Malia Obama will be attending classes in January. If we all took as much time and effort to learn about and fix problems like education in our country as we currently do slamming our current and soon-to-be presidents, America would be a much better place.
